Yesterday saw the release of the Realms and Rebels box set and what an exciting day it was!
My book, Hell's Calling, co-written with my super talented friend Skye MacKinnon released as part of the box set and we are both super proud of our spin on Dante's Inferno. We had such fun writing this book and can't wait to move onto the next book in the series which, all going to plan, will release later this year.
You know, I almost didn't take part in this box set, but Skye and the rest of my Flock author buddies managed to twist my arm (thanks ladies) and I caved lol! Seriously though, before this book I hadn't co-written before and was terrified I'd balls it up! Thankfully, Skye's and my writing style seem to just merge really well and the story almost seemed to write itself.
This release has given me a number of firsts.
- A first co-write
- A first number one spot in iTunes
- A first bestseller flag in Amazon (Canada so far, we're all crossing fingers for more)
- An author rank! At last glance (okay, I was stalking the list ;) it was #43 in Paranormal Romance. Holy Shiznits!
And hopefully, next Wednesday we'll find out if we get on the USA Today bestsellers list!
What has this experience so far taught me?
TO GO FOR IT!
I almost didn't, I almost let my self-doubt and worries get the better of me. I'm so glad I didn't listen! Sometimes you got to just take a leap of faith and see where the dice lands. This whole authoring journey has been a roller coaster ride with plenty of downs, as well as ups. This experience is most definitely and up!
If you want to read what got me all those firsts.... then Realms And Rebels is $0.99 for this week only. So grab it whilst you can and get stuck in!
This month I should finish the last book of Fern's trilogy in the Sisters of Hex series. Fern and the Angels of Death; Mihr, Ether and Gabe, have been so much fun to write, not least because I have been able to draw other characters from the series into the books. Fern has undergone some physical and emotional changes and so too have her angels. I love writing these books, most days the characters surprise me with their antics. Just yesterday something happened in a scene that had ME gasping out loud! Honestly, I just feel like a vessel that my characters just use and abuse to get THEIR story told!
Fern's Flight is on pre-order now and currently has a date of release in October. This WILL move forward to September, and I will post about the new release date as soon as I can. In this last book of Fern's trilogy, the over-arching plot will move forward greatly and will bring back some characters from Accacia's books as well as introduce some new ones yet to come up in the other sisters trilogies. I can't wait to see what you think of Fern's finale. Of course, with the series this won't be the last you'll see of Fern and her Angels of Death. They will make appearances in the other sisters trilogies still to come!
Well, for the series as a whole I will be moving onto Clover and her Fae men. If you've read Accacia's trilogy you will have met them in Accacia's Blood, when Accacia and Ezra went into the Forbidden Forest.
For research purposes I went to Richmond Park recently to surround myself with the beautiful flora and fauna to get the creative juices flowing! I won't be starting this series until I complete Fern's Flight and two other projects I'm working on currently. So Clover's Wish is unlikely to be released until next year. But I will keep you all informed!
